Arrifana-Aljezur Just 7 km!
Proud of everyone, we all made it and return satisfied.
We get up when we wake up, there is no alarm clock this time.
We have a bus at 12:00 from Aljezur to Lagos. Day 7 of the trail is 17,5 km but we are not going to do the trail. We walk like Portuguese going to Fatima: on the road and as fast as possible. In Lagos we will go to the beach and rest.
Easter Sunday Breakfast Treat
It is Easter Sunday! The first year that I don’t hide eggs. May be I can buy some tomorrow in Lagos.
We will treat ourselves on a delicious breakfast @ The Bakery. It opens at 8:00 and we are there. Even without alarm clock, we are ready to go in no time.
We are not the first one, there is really a line! They are working with three people.
Yesterday I promised that I would treat on the delicious vegan chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls and a smoothie at the end of the walk. Since it was closed, we do all this + breakfast today. yummie
Waffles with mascarpone and fruit for Cinta, Toast with cheese and spicy tomato for Jaap-Willem, Eef likes savoury too: omelet with avocado, and for me bolu de caco with alfalfa:-).
I hope we will finish all. We surely need an energy refill. I guess that during my trails we use more than we eat, and on a long distance trail we lose some kilo’s.

Quick Morning Walk to Busstation
Around 9:30 we start to walk. The road to Aljezur, is not satisfying. After all the nice paths we had last week, Cinta is fed up, and the sun, which is already burning on our heads is not helping.
With a short toilet break, we walk further and around 11:15 we arrive in Aljezur.
I remember there is a very good Italian ice cream bar. Since we have three ice cream lovers in our group, we go there. But it is too early, they only open in the afternoon.
We sit in the park, and I found two nice books in a great exchange library! An English and Dutch one. Lots of books from tourists or walkers, I reckon. The girls think I couldn’t only take a book, I had to donate one for one. I told them it is okay but they don’t believe me. Normally there are much more books in these kind of libraries than people take away.

Bus to Lagos
It is crowded at the bus stop. Looks like more pilgrims go by bus from here.
The Rede Expressos on this part was more than half hour late last time. So we’ll see at 12:00.
There is a bus going to Lisbon just before noon. And I think the worst about ours. I bought the bus tickets a long time ago, so I know it will come. Luckily we have a bench in the shadow, because it is 12:45 when we see ours coming.
Sleeping and Eating @…
Eef is sorry that the trail is ending. Already two days, she is thinking of that. But we still have two nights in Lagos. I want to rest after the trail, so I thought of two nights extra which is 1,5 day at the beach. I am very curious to the place. It is called DBV Guesthouse Central Suite, a 2 star hotel.
I made a mistake when I booked, I switched rooms but now I couldn’t find out I had a place for 2, 3, or 4 people. I booked for three, then I switched dates, and the reply said that it is for two people. And the photo on booking showed 4 beds although a review said that the photo’s were not corresponding to the room you get. Still here? It is confusing.
Arriving there, we see a super friendly Indian guy. We were early but we could enter our place. And no problem he would arrange some extra for us. Seeing the worried face of Eef: “what? where?” He says not to worry at all, he will do it before we come back from the beach. He gives us extra towels too.
I take one with me to the beach where we eat our lunch. But the breads didn’t make it to the beach, on the way it was already finished. The hotel is close to the bus station, so it was further walk to the beach than the first day we stayed in Lagos.

We have a small kitchen, Great. I will make a salad and bread with sausage for us tomorrow. Those three disillusioned faces, when we walked back after we reached Cabo Sao Vincente with Die Letzte Bratwurst vor Amerika... Tomorrow we will eat real Italian ice cream too. The best place for that, is in one of the small allies. and not on the main street.
A lot of restaurants are closed today. So the Mexican one is a no go, the Nepalese-Asian Dumpling House also closed, what now? Strolling back from the beach we see an Chinese restaurant: Dynasty. Let’s go here. But not before the girls did some shopping in the souvenir shops. They cannot wait to spend their pocket money after a week of nothing but trail.
In the Restaurant we sit on the roof top with a nice view on the boulevard and water where we walked to the beach. We enjoy the simple wantan soup, rice noodles, egg noodles, tofu, vegetables and duck on a sizzling plate. The table is set with cutlery but we ask for chopsticks. Also Eef, likes to try and practice. She is better at it now, but I think she ate less than normal, well at least slower. They have the typical Cantonese fried vanilla ice as dessert. And to close the day: candies of course.
Aljezur-Porto Covo…
The 2nd part of the trail from Arrifana-Aljezur to Porto Covo or the other way around?
End of May more blogs about this part of the Fishermen’s trail. All is booked already for Willeke and me. She comes back to continue our trail. At least if the planes are still flying.
