Surprise of the Day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

6:20 We walk from our pension, barefoot to the beach. We just have to cross the street and go down. We look for the part where the water is not so deep yet, and we cross. It is not that cold as we thought. After cleaning our feet to put our shoes on, we open the bag with our lunch. Surprise, we drink the Compal juice. We see that the man packed a big sandwich with lettuce, ham and cheese, cold coffee and fresh pineapple, melon and berries. This is our special surprise of our pension \/ restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easy-Average Path<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Because we slept at Praia Odeceixe and there was no need to go to the village or use the bridge, we cut some km today. It is a short and average path. There is a climb and descent. It would be difficult if you don’t have a good balance (Jaap-WIllem will take the Uber when we will walk it with the family in future). Since the day was not very long, we consider it as easy-average.
Willeke and I enjoy the whole walk, just like yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of People Walking the Opposite Way<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This week we will know which part is the nicer, easier, more beautiful path. Is it the path from Lagos to Aljezur? Or from Aljezur to Porto Covo-Sao Torpes and Sines? We can’t imagine that the north part is more beautiful than the south, but until now, it is still amazing. There is a forest, coast, exotic zebra’s and ostriches on our path. At some points, there are lots of pilgrims. Of course we meet pilgrims and tourist at the only cafe on the path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We swim in the ocean before heading to our sleeping place. There we see pilgrims with such huge backpacks. They have a tent with them. I talk to them in the water and they tell me, they will stop soon. They have to much in their backpack, they can’t make it to Lagos. Too heavy in the sand, so they will cut the trail short.
This is a warning<\/strong>: Don’t bring heavy stuff on your back, then the loose sand will make your trail miserable. Until now we do not a lot of sand but day 4-5-6 are yet to come.

The town is very nice. It starts with an open square with a nice bakery, some cafes and shops. Not only pilgrims are here but also tourists. I like this mix of Portuguese, tourists and walkers. After an apple pie for me and ice cream for Willeke we head to the local part of the town where we will sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sleeping @ Hostel Nature<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The hostel is very nice. The owner named Diogo welcomes every guest home<\/em>. He takes his time to show his, or in fact is grandma’s whole house. He has a lot of anecdotes about his place and his guests. I would not say ‘Welcome home’ to our guests in Casa da Lima, too cheesy for me but the whole vibe and the house has really something extra’s: there are hot water bottles, a thing to put in your shoe to make it warm and dry, a kitchen, two bathrooms with a massage shower and a nice couch to to rest. You can call or WA him to ask for a bed or a room! He will be very happy that you call him directly. The room is very hot, it is difficult to sleep well.

We eat at a Nepalese restaurant. It is wonderful, the dumplings called momo’s in Nepalese look beautiful and yes, they are delicious. Sohoo spicy… The Nepalese man that served us was so friendly, This helps us to enjoy to the fullest. With the fresh mango juice we tried to balance the spiciness in our mouth. One main dish was enough for both of us, it was so good we forgot to take a photo of a full plate…
If you like exotic (Nepalese) food, on the Fishermen’s trail you can have it! I ate momo’s in Lagos too in a Nepalese restaurant specially for dumplings.
