Beaches near Porto
I knew Esmoriz from my caminho from Casa da Lima to Porto. I knew I would return some day. And now I did. My idea was to walk with the three of us, but it was not so practical to leave the car in Ovar. In Esmoriz the hotel was far from the ocean and we need the car then. So Jaap-Willem walked alone to meet us half way, and Cinta and I drove to the hotel La Fontaine and on the way we went to the supermarket. It turned out to be a huge XL hypermarche, so it took a long time. By the time we checked in Jaap-Willem almost finalised his caminho for that day. We quickly started to walk to meet him halfway. Well we met him in the forest after less than one hour walk. In the forest we had our lunch, and we walked together to the beach to enjoy beach life and the boulevard.
The hotel was nice spacious one and had a big swimming pool, we took a dive and warmed up in the sun. To our surprise there is a Thai restaurant in Esmoriz! Yes, let’s go there. We are craving for exotic food. It is near the ocean so we take our car to go there. Look at that Mango sticky rice on the photo below, we never saw a such a beautiful one in Thailand. What a nice closure of a nice summer day.
Espinho
I drove to Espinho beach and walked via the boardwalk half way back towards Esmoriz, to meet Cinta and Jaap-Willem. There were a lot of boardwalks obviously because I missed them but I had a long walk to the beach of Esmoriz and back to Espinho.
In Espinho I reserved a place in Hi-Espinho, the hostel chain, where they always have a simple but nice breakfast. It was perfect, we were in a room with three beds. So better call them when you are with a family because booking charged me more and doesn’t give you this option. Cinta would be free on the extra bed and I paid for an extra bed on booking.
In the garden they had a minigolf place. It was old and overgrown but we rented the materials and had fun. Tomorrow we will visit the large famous outdoor market in Espinho, every Monday. And then we head home to our pilgrims again!
